Tudor Mitroi
Nowhere and Now
(in the main gallery space)
Opening Reception: September 9th, 2017, 6 - 8pm
Tudor Mitroi's work distills and condenses the fluid meanings of time and place. Based on historical images and maps, rulers, dates and times, and small items of personal significance, his painted cartographies embody the intimate relationship between the elusive concept of time and the reality of form. The artist makes his own paint every day from archival pigments and raw materials. With its multiple layers, Mitroi's painting process brings together scattered marks, text, and intricate line drawings to create aerial charts of intangible territories that invite the viewer to contemplate the universe of the mind.
